Abandoned for four months by a leading Indonesian and British orangutan charity (NOT Orangutan Appeal UK who are stroing supporters of COPs work). These orangutans had all been confiscated by the Indonesian authorities. Repeated attempts by the authorities and Nature Alert to have a nearby orangutan rescue organisation backed by a leading international animal welfare charity, accept these orangutans, met with excuses, deceit and procrastination of epic proportions.
Why won't they accept these orangutans? I still don't know. But I do now it has not been a question of lack of money or space in the rescue centre for the orangutans.
