Has anyone ever seen any kind of high profile palm oil protest/campaign anywhere in the US? My previous request produced nothing, which might go some way to explaining developments like the one we see below.

World's Largest Palm Oil Producer Establishes Relationship with SRS Engineering

Indonesian leaders visit SRS Engineering and uncover goods to import/export.

Murrieta, CA - April 9, 2009 - SRS Engineering Corp., a Southern California-based biodiesel equipment manufacturer, was visited on March 26, 2009 by a group of Indonesian delegates to uncover potential goods to import and export from the U.S. These delegates, who represent commerce interests in their country, visited a handful of Southern California businesses to discuss potential trade agreements between the two countries.

The delegates included the chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Lufti; the consul general of the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles, Subijaksono Sujono; the counselor for economic affairs form the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington D.C., Ridwan Hassan; and the consul of economic affairs for the Los Angeles consulate, Edi Suharto.

Discussions were made regarding the feasibility of a biodiesel plant being erected in Indonesia, along with the possibility of the exportation of palm oil to the U.S., as Indonesia is now the largest producer of palm oil in the world.

The delegates visited a few companies throughout Southern California looking to develop partnerships with companies like SRS Engineering that could eventually evolve into international trade agreements. With SRS Engineering being a biodiesel equipment manufacturing facility and Indonesia being the largest producer of palm oil in the world, there was an obvious business relationship to be had.
