The Meterology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency has recorded 30 hotspots, which indicate land of forest fire, scattered in Central Kalimanta area throughout June.
“The agency has warned that for land fires in the province beginning this month as the average temperature reaches 34 degree Celsius,” said Mega Hariyanto, head of Central Kalimantan Natural Resource Conservation Agency (BKSDA), as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.
Mega said that the hostpots were land clearing fires. “Each clearing cover two to four hectares in average,” he said.
BKSDA has deployed officers to check preparation of fire prevention and management personnel and equipment in four operation areas in Palangkaraya, Kapuas, Muara Teweh and Pangkalan Bun. (dre)
