Where Have You Been? Visiting orangutans!

The person in this photo is blameless.

I'm sure he was perfectly healthy and could not be expected to know the risk of accidentally transmitting human diseases like flu to orangutans, but what about the thousands of others from all over the world who every year visit places like Sepilok in Malaysia. One sick person could wipe out any number of orangutans.

So, why are people at places like this in Malaysia and at Camp Leakey in Indonesia permitted to get so close to orangutans?

Does it seem strange to you, both visitor centres where any sick person could wipe out a large number of orangutans, are actively promoted by orangutan charities who raise money to save orangutans?
Is this not a conflict of ethics and interest?
