Central Kalimantan to Cancel Some Plantation Permits

TEMPO Interactive, Palangkaraya: The Governor of Central Kalimantan, Teras Narang, has threatened that he cancel the permits of some plantation companies working in the region.

This is because they are suspected of burning land and creating thick smoke that has created problems for air transportation.

The companies include PBS as well as other Oil Palm plantation companies.

“I have asked the Environment Agency of Central Kalimantan to identify the companies creating the thick smoke,” said the governor.

The government will ask the police for recommendation letters that that these companies have been burning land.

Teras said that it was each company’s responsibility to keep its land free from fire/.
